Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026 (updated October 23, 2026)
Augura collects no personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The developer never receives what you draw, write or choose in the app.
What stays on your device
- Your draws, history, notes, tags, saved lists, places and settings are stored only on your iPhone (and shared with Augura's own widgets and Apple Watch app on your devices). Deleting the app deletes them; you can also clear the history inside the app.
- The Apple Watch app talks to the iPhone app directly through Apple's WatchConnectivity, without any server of ours.
Permissions, all optional
- Photos (Picture mode): Augura picks a random photo or video from your library and shows it. Small copies for the photo widget stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Add to Photos (Artwork and Space photo modes): when you tap Wallpaper or Save, Augura adds that picture to your library. This permission only allows adding; Augura cannot see your other photos.
- Contacts (Contact mode): Augura picks a random contact on your device. Nothing is uploaded and the address book is never changed.
- Notifications: the optional daily draw reminder is created on your device.
- Location (Map Point, "Near me"): only while you use Near me, Augura reads your position to ask Apple Maps for nearby places. It is not stored and never sent to us.
- Camera (Scavenger hunt): only when you take a photo of a find. The photo stays inside the app and is deleted with the round; it is never uploaded.
- Motion (Forehead): the tilt of your iPhone marks a word as guessed or passed. Motion data is read only during the game and stays on your device.
What goes online
Most of Augura works offline. Only when you use one of the features below does your iPhone contact the service named, directly — never through a server of ours. Like any website, that service sees your iPhone's internet address and what was asked for; Augura sends no account, name, contacts, photos or tracking identifiers.
- Maps (Map Point): Apple Maps. Weather (Map Point, can be switched off in its settings): Apple Weather (WeatherKit) receives the coordinates of the pin you dropped to return the current conditions; they are not stored by Augura.
- Image packs (real coins, tarot and Lenormand art, the book library): downloaded from Apple's App Store servers the first time you use them.
- Songs, albums, podcasts and films: Apple's iTunes Search service; previews play from Apple; "Add to Apple Music" asks for your permission and talks only to Apple Music. Podcast episodes play from the podcast's own host.
- Books: Open Library (Internet Archive). Artworks: the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Space photos: NASA. Poems: PoetryDB. Radio: the Radio Browser directory and the station you play. Encyclopedia texts: Wikipedia. Articles: the publication you open.
- Species: iNaturalist (observations and photos with their licences). Audiobooks: LibriVox and the Internet Archive. Classical music: Open Opus. Chess puzzles: Lichess. Example sentences: Tatoeba.
- Earthquake right now: the U.S. Geological Survey's public earthquake feed. Asteroid flyby: NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory close-approach data. These requests contain no information about you, only the time window asked for.
- YouTube and websites: the video or website you choose to open (YouTube's player or your browser applies its own policy).
- Share links: the result is written into the link itself; opening it on the Augura website sends nothing to us.
Augura does not sell, share or rent any data, because it collects none.
Children
Augura collects no data from anyone, including children.
