The Devil Tarot Card Meaning
Major Arcana, number XV
attachment, temptation, shadow self, restriction
The card
A horned, bat-winged figure crouches on a dark pedestal with an inverted star above his brow, while a naked man and woman stand chained below him. The chains around their necks hang loose enough to lift off. The card asks you to look at what holds you in place, whether a pattern, a belief or a craving for more, and to notice how much of that hold you could loosen yourself.
Upright meaning
Attachment, temptation, the shadow self.
Reversed meaning
Release, breaking free.
