Five of Swords Tarot Card Meaning
Minor Arcana, suit of Swords
conflict, hollow victory, pride, walking away
The card
A man with a sly half-smile gathers up swords while two defeated figures walk off toward the water beneath a sky of torn clouds. Someone has won, but the win looks lonely. The card asks whether being right is worth what it costs, and when it is wiser to lay the argument down.
Upright meaning
A win at any cost; conflict that leaves everyone a little poorer, even the victor.
Reversed meaning
Making peace after a quarrel, or walking away before the fight goes further.
